Maari Ma Health Aboriginal Corporation is an Aboriginal community controlled regional health organisation dedicated to improving health outcomes for Aboriginal people and their families in far west NSW.
Operating for more than 20 years based in Broken Hill, Maari Ma is lead and governed by an all Aboriginal Board of Directors representing 7 communities in our region: Broken Hill, Balranald, Ivanhoe, Menindee, Wilcannia, Wentworth/Dareton and Tibooburra from the unincorporated area.
The Board is deeply committed to providing a holistic approach to Aboriginal health that includes physical, emotional, spiritual, cultural and environmental dimensions. We deliver quality primary health care services to Aboriginal people and their families with a focus on chronic disease: its prevention, early detection and best practice management.
Maari Ma runs social and community programs focussing on families, especially children and young people and is an active participant in research and evaluation projects affecting Aboriginal people in our region, specifically around violence and chronic disease.
Maari Ma has also taken a lead role in improving development and wellbeing outcomes for Aboriginal child in our region.
